AR Expectations
Primary Duties:
- Offside
- Substitutions
- Out of Bounds direction (in their quadrant or if asked by center)
- Foul recognition
- Mechanics
- Good eye contact with the center referee
- Stay with the last defender no matter how far up the attacker is compared to the last defender.
- Being patient with calling offside or out of bounds
- . Run down to the corner flag for corner kicks before signaling
- Normal hand for flag (on the referees’ side facing the middle of the field)
3. Substitutions to clear the field (flag in away hand, then cross over the body to the near hand).
- Â When signaling throw in direction do not raise flag straight up before
- Direction unless the ball in close to boundary line.
- Stay of the field except for:
- Major injury such as dislocated body part, or head injury
- Mass confrontation on the center referee
- Asked by the center referee for assistants for setting a freekick wall on
- AR quadrant.
- Center expectation
- Good communication
- Good pregame describing expectations and specific concerns or situations that might arise.
- Cover the field and not just hang around the center.
- Do not just walk around with hands on the hips.
- Anticipate play and be where you need to be especially on Goal Kicks and Throw Ins
- Strong whistle and communication with players and coaches
